This introductory design studio focuses on engaging students in trans-disciplinary design exploration through critical-thinking and experimentation. In this course students will focus on gaining an understanding of design and the design process through critical research, analysis, synthesis, ideation and deployment. Students will be introduced to the formal and conceptual principles of design; learn how to employ different thinking methods; identify and understand elements used in design; gain a working knowledge of analogue and digital tolls used in the practice of design and small-scale manufacturing; and be introduced to the idea of design entrepreneurship.
