From cyber-terrorism to identity theft, the digital age has brought about a change in the way crime is being committed. The usage of computers in crime has led to the emerging field of computer forensics. This course will provide a foundation in the field of computer forensics and is designed to give students a solid understanding of how to obtain and analyze digital information for possible use as evidence in civil, criminal, or administrative cases. Students will learn the language of computer crime investigation, cybercrime law, conducting digital investigations and handling digital crime scenes, best practices for general incidence response, and how to apply forensics to computers and networks.
