The Honors Program aims to help highly motivated students reach their full potential. The program endeavors to:
All students admitted to the Honors Program are invited to participate in the Honors Society. In consultation with Honors Program students, the Honors Society organizes social and professional development events throughout the academic year. Honors Society events provide excellent opportunities to meet other Honors Program students and form lasting relationships outside the classroom.

The Honors Program consists of two tiers of academic engagement. Honors classes provide deeper, more challenging learning experiences for students. There are two curricular options available:
Most incoming freshman will join the University Honors Program. In Tier 1, University Honors students complete 19 credit hours of Honors coursework in the core curriculum. In Tier 2, University Honors students complete 6 credit hours of Honors coursework in 3000- and/or 4000-level courses in their respective majors. Current students and incoming transfer students are welcome to join the College Honors Program. In Tier 1, College Honors students complete 6 credit hours of Honors coursework in the core curriculum. In Tier 2, College Honors students complete 9 credit hours of Honors coursework in 3000- and/or 4000-level courses in their respective majors. * Eligible core curriculum courses include:
Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication: COM 1103, LLT 1213, LLT 1223, SSC 2413, or SSC 2423
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science: MCS 1414, MCS 1424, MCS 2414, MCS 2423, MCS 3403, or another mathematics course appropriate for the student’s major (selected in consultation with the Director of the Honors Program)
Department of Natural Sciences: CHM 1213, PHY 2413, or another science course appropriate for the student’s major (selected in consultation with the Director of the Honors Program)
Please note that a grade of B or higher is required in all Honors courses to receive Honors credit. Only one grade of B- or lower can be replaced by enrolling in a subsequent Honors course in the same discipline. In addition, all Honors Program students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. In extenuating circumstances, the Director of the Honors Program may approve a limited number of curricular substitutions.
Incoming freshmen are invited to apply to join the University Honors Program if they have earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher in high school. Involvement in community service and/or extracurricular activities are also important criteria that will be considered when reviewing your application.

Involvement in community service and/or extracurricular activities are also important criteria that will be considered when reviewing your application.
