Description

Anthony pulls from his experience as a collegiate golfer and master club fitter to create his Modular Putter design.  As a fitter for Callaway, he noticed that the one club that many golfers overlooked was the most important: the putter. With on average almost 50% of the strokes during a round being made with the putter, it’s the most used club by far.

His design allows users to customize their putter in every aspect and allows them to find the best-performing setup for their game. Users can mix and match parts, allowing them to build a completely new putter, without breaking the bank. The design aims to create a putter that golfers can use to either get fit or fit themselves into the best putter for them. Due to the modular design, if a player's putting stroke changes, they don’t need to spend $500+ on another new putter, they can simply replace a part for a fraction of the price.

The form of the modular putter line was a key aspect of the design. It was important to create three separate putters, that fell under the 3 putter categories (blade, fang, and mallet), but remained in the same family visually. Anthony focused on creating alignment through form, using parallel lines and arrows made through angles to help golfers make more putts.

The next step for this project is to produce a fully functional line of putters out of metal. The face of the putter will have options milled out of 303 stainless steel or beryllium copper. To make the interchangeable body frames and hosels, aluminum SLS 3D printing will be used to maximize weight distribution for performance.
