Description

Oasis, formerly a prison and historical seamen’s YMCA, is a community space that offers resources to formerly incarcerated individuals and their families. The space programming was determined based on common issues faced by those reentering the community. These spaces help to facilitate a smooth reentry and encourage investment in the community. A trauma-informed design approach is taken to mitigate physiological stress responses that are likely to be experienced by those who have experienced trauma, specifically, those formerly incarcerated.
