DescriptionLocated in Ashmun Bay Park, Sault Ste. Marie, MI, this sports hall design strives to improve upon the natural environment of the site and make the interior just as experiential as the exterior while also meeting LEED performance standards. This was accomplished through a metaphorical design approach that takes advantage of the natural site conditions on the north side as well as the artificial site conditions on the south side. By strategically integrating components of universal access, mechanical systems, activity spaces, and passive design strategies, all of which work together to merge the artificial aspects with the natural environment that the building inhabits.
