Architecture + Design at LTU

The College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) is dedicated to a pedagogy of “theory and practice,” the motto of Lawrence Technological University. We advocate not one or the other, but both, integrated and coherent. Correspondingly, CoAD offers students insight into grounded design practice, crafted so that our students might enter thoughtfully into current modes of practice and, when appropriate, expand the conversations so that the practices of architecture and design might be more innovative, inclusive, and democratic.

message from the dean

“In the College of Architecture and Design at LTU, we are constantly thinking about teaching, we adapt new classroom attitudes, and experiment with new ways of sharing our knowledge. Technology and quickly evolving industry innovations charge the output from our design studios and courses. Our focus on design, technology, and practice results in exciting new work of our students.

I am excited to introduce and share ur new online gallery. This is not only a short term mode of translating the traditional gallery show to an online format but a perpetual outlet to celebrate and share the work of our students. I hope this CoAD gallery extends the timeline and extends the geography of our efforts, initiating a broader critical discussion on our efforts, culture, and desire to broaden the mindset, reach, and impact of design.”
