The Seatbelt Redesigned
MajorProduct Design [BS]
Description
This project aims to redesign the standard vehicle seatbelt system for women to provide full flexibility, comfort, and safety as we transition into the era of autonomous vehicles.
The current seatbelts in our vehicles have remained unchanged for decades. Originally designed for men and tested on male crash dummies, these seatbelts do not accurately accommodate the female anatomy or consider other body types, including pregnancy.
Rima has taken on the challenge of redesigning a system that has been in place for so long, aiming to bring attention to the challenges and discomfort that women face when using the standard seatbelt, particularly during pregnancy. As automotive interiors evolve rapidly, innovation in seatbelt design is imperative for the future of vehicle safety.
