AI in the Design Process: To Aid in Plural Planning Processes

DescriptionThis project looks at the ways that current advancements in generative Ai can aid in the architectural profession. Specifically, how it may aid in early idea generation, exploration, and illustrating potential concepts in early planning and design initiatives when engaging with stakeholders and member of the public in plural planning initiatives where resources needed to proceed with more thorough, resource intensive design might not be feasible. In these instances, generative Ai image generation was explored to try to reduce time to illustrative document production to show general intent for dissemination and facilitate the engagement process. Further, it is hypothesized for future research that this method might be coupled with social media engagement approaches on large-scale plural planning speculative investigations.
