Urban Vertical Farm and Food Hub

DescriptionThe project is based on a recent RFP issued by the City of Detroit. The project is a vertical farm and urban food hub in Detroit in the Eastern Market district. The project includes a four-story vertical farm and associated retail food sales, educational, and administration spaces. In addition, a new parking structure is part of the project proposed as well to have sustainable characteristics. The site development will include a substantial open space centered on the building site and area relationships for open space planning, walkability, and engagement with the Eastern Market events. Students will be pursuing sustainable metrics and outcomes using LEED, criteria. The studio contains an associated Lab class component to advance sustainable systems development and performance outcomes, performance modeling, and regulatory issues.
