MajorArchitecture [BS]
DescriptionThe Soo Health Center and Sport Hall project situated on the Ashmun Bay Park site in Sault Ste Marie is designed as a multifunctional hub, set to revolutionize community health and engagement. Encompassing a vast range of athletic and educational facilities, this complex includes a full-size gym and a natatorium. Additional amenities are tailored for diverse interests, featuring three well-equipped classrooms, a Pilates studio, a yoga studio, and a dance studio, a fitness room, and a weight room, each designed to foster wellness and community interaction.
A standout feature is the experiential walking track that weaves through the building, creating a balcony over the primary activity spaces, while integrating an indoor climbing wall that challenges and excites. These facilities are not only functional but are also crafted to meet the highest standards of sustainability. The building is a model of eco-friendly design, achieving LEED certification through energy-efficient practices and materials. Photovoltaic modules on the roof harness solar energy, significantly reducing the building's carbon footprint.
This sports hall is more than just a place for physical activity; it is envisioned as a vibrant community landmark. Its architectural design and sustainable features make it a beacon of modern community engagement, promoting health, education, and environmental stewardship among the residents of Sault Ste Marie.
