DESCRIPTION
The Prototyping and Fabrication course is offered at the sophomore level at Lawrence Technological University, College of Architecture and Design. The course allows students to engage in different fabrication workflows and processes such as laser cutting, CNC routing, 3D printing, free-form plaster casting, and robotic fabrication. The goal is to produce early-stage conceptual scale models while investigating the relationships between digital computation and physical making through input-output design parameters. Prototyping and Fabrication provides a platform to teach a range of software and hardware skills that are essential for all designers to position their work at the intersection of algorithms-aided design, automation, and craft.
