DESCRIPTION

Jacob's woven works are conceptualized as three-dimensional color field paintings, mixing colors visually in space. Woven layers visually vibrate because our eyes cannot make sense of the fine lines of the layered grids so wavy patterns (moire effect) take shape. When creating these color field works, she uses a simple binary concept—is it on or is it off? Is it a “1” or is it a “0”? Where “0” is the space that the viewer can see through, and “1” is the solid color of the textile. This binary relationship creates artwork in a digital realm.
