DESCRIPTION
The accent table in walnut and aluminum is a testament to Earle's curiosity about the way materials can unite in unusual ways to create beauty and function. This piece answers the questions, “Can I cast metal tenons directly into wood mortises? Can I employ advanced materials in traditional casting methods to give the metal visual interest and lightness?" In the foundry she learned to read the surface and form of each iteration to learn the way the metal flowed in the mold, so she could adjust its shape and casting process until I got the desired result.

Browsing in an antique book shop, Earle saw a faded image of a Naum Gabo sphere study in clear plastic. She instantly understood the form, and wanted to explore and redefine it to produce a functional chair that would sculpturally convey a sense of spiritual ascent in its expression of space, time and movement.

DESCRIPTION
Earle is interested in reimagining upholstery cushioning, and developing earth friendly alternatives to the open cell foam commonly used in mass-produced furniture and mattresses. As an avenue of exploration, she used a waffle weave structure fabricated in wool felt to build a volume. She was looking to employ sustainable natural fiber without dyes, and leverage the geometry of the study as both beautiful and structural.
