DESCRIPTION
Combining technology and traditional craft, I developed these abstract steel sculptures as a response to well-known, hyper-masculine metal sculpture. They begin as renderings--assemblages of singular arch pieces that combine into curvy, swirling sculptures that defy the hard, cold steel material. To determine how they interact and balance in space, I 3-D print the sculptures as models. When the design is finalized, I fabricate from a flat laser cut sheet or plate metal.
