The Revitalization of Murphy Elementary School
MajorInterior Design [BS]
DescriptionThe project aims to revitalize Murphy Elementary School, in Detroit Michigan, and promote learning by encouraging curiosity and exploration through playful and engaging environmental factors such as layout, lighting, sound, color, and materials. The goal is to practice sustainable design methods while also creating a sense of community, encouraging students to communicate and perform to the best of their abilities, and above all ensuring the safety, happiness, and wellness of all students and staff at Murphy Elementary School.
Playful forms and furniture arrangement aid in building a sense of community and encourage engagement, play, and exploration. Acoustic treatments will allow students and staff to focus and perform well. Engaging and playful colors will promote exploration and allow creativity to bloom. Calming colors will aid in focus and the absorption of knowledge. Optimizing daylight and sustainable materials will promote environmental and human health, both physically and mentally.
