Water's Edge Recreational Facility

Major

Architecture [M.Arch]

Description

Situated adjacent to Museum Ship Valley Camp and in close proximity to Pollar Stadium and other local historical sites, Water’s Edge recreational facility offers accessible meeting, fitness and educational spaces that foster community engagement. The Center’s viewing terrace provides magnificent waterfront views as well as a peek of neighboring Canada. In addition to a natatorium, a basketball court, a running track, a climbing wall and exercise areas, Water’s Edge is home to a waterfront Café and the famous Soo Locks Boat Tours. The architecture incorporates a sizable roof solar array and strategically located glazing panes that introduce natural light to interior spaces. The design also integrates eco-friendly materials, ensuring minimal environmental impact while maximizing comfort in the cold climate.
