Advancements in technology can initiate a movement towards more sustainable architecture by minimizing the amount of processing necessary to use wood in a structural capacity This can be demonstrated through: (1) a process of design that incorporates computation to analyze the properties of an individual unit of material and optimize the structural form based on these variations; and (2) the construction of a building element based on this design process
