Description

The Tri-Shoe is a product that Benjamin Brittain has wanted to design since his freshman year at Lawrence Technological University. This athletic sneaker is a 100 percent 3D printed shoe intended to be worn during an Ironman triathlon. Its purpose is to decrease the time spent on transitions during the race. To provide some background, an Ironman triathlon is a multi-sport endurance race where athletes compete to achieve the lowest time. Between each race segment, there is a timed transition period, during which athletes change to begin the next race. Upon examining the Ironman triathlon in detail, Benjamin noticed that transitions were an area where athletes often added unnecessary time. His product is designed to minimize this unnecessary time for a faster overall race time.
