The Ray Award is awarded to an individual who has distinguished himself or herself through extraordinary volunteer service to Lawrence Technological University. Like a ray of sunshine cast on the University community, volunteerism is vital to Lawrence Tech’s growth and development.
The Ray Award is named for its first recipient, Ray Moy, who earned his chemical engineering degree in 1943. Ray set a high standard, serving as Alumni Association president in the late 1940s. He helped to create the Jubilee Society in the 1990’s, founded the Southeast United States Alumni Chapter, and motivated dozens of his fellow graduates to begin over a decade of active student recruitment visitations and alumni programs in Georgia and the surrounding states.
Peter Barclae understands the joy of giving and encourages others to join him. In fact, he led a Giving Day challenge that nearly tripled the value of an endowed scholarship created by Phi Kappa Upsilon – the fraternity he joined as an engineering student in the 1980s. For more on why he won the Ray Award:
John Sammut sponsors Blue Devil Motorsports activities, gives his time as a member of the College of Engineering Advisory Board and alongside Peter Barclae, inspired his fraternity brothers to donate to the Phi Kappa Upsilon endowed scholarship on Giving Day. For more on why he won the Ray Award:
