What's next? Below are important steps to help guide you through the process of officially becoming an LTU Student.

Submit Enrollment Deposit This $100 enrollment deposit secures your place at Lawrence Tech. Additionally, it secures scholarships awarded to you and allows you to apply for housing, take required placement assessments, and sign up for an advising appointment. May 1 is the national candidate reply deadline. You are encouraged to submit your enrollment deposit as soon as you make Lawrence Tech your choice. The enrollment deposit can be submitted through your student status page . The deadline to request a refund for the enrollment deposit is May 1. | |
Sign up for Housing The application for housing is available after you submit your enrollment deposit on your student status page . There is a $250 application fee for housing. This also serves as your security deposit. First-year students are encouraged to live on campus as planned activities and first-year student initiatives ease the transition from high school to college. Additional information on University Housing is available at ltu.edu/housing. You will receive your housing assignment in mid-July. | |
Register for Placement Assessments Placement assessments are the first step in the registration process and are the key to a successful academic path at Lawrence Tech. The results of these assessments will be used by your Academic Advisor to determine the appropriate coursework for your first semester. Once you submit your enrollment deposit, you will receive an email shortly after to view your placement assessment requirements on your student status page. You will find these requirements on the right side of your student status page, along with registration links (when available) and study guides. If you are required to take placement assessments, the tests are conducted virtually. You will need a computer (desktop or laptop, not cell phone) with a webcam and audio capabilities. You will also need a valid photo ID. Please note, the placement assessments MUST be completed before you register for your advising appointment. | |
Advising Appointment During this appointment you will meet with your advisor, discuss the results of your placement assessments, and register for your first semester coursework. Registration for an advising appointment will become available in March. Priority registration dates will be available in April. Please return to your student status page in early March to view your advising options. Again, you will not be able to register for an advising appointment until your placements have been completed. | |
Laptop Deposit and Distribution One of the highlights of being a new Lawrence Tech student is picking up your customized laptop. We want you to get used to the unique features and software prior to the start of the term. To be eligible to pick up your laptop, you will need to pay your $500 laptop deposit on your student status page . You will be able to submit this deposit in early March. You MUST be fully registered for classes before you can pick up your laptop. Laptops will be distributed at our Family Orientation Days. Registration for these days will be available on your student status page in mid-March. | |
Submit Final High School Transcripts Once your final semester/quarter grades have been posted, request an official copy of your final high school transcripts be sent to LTU. In addition, if you have completed any dual enrollment courses, AP , or IB tests, make sure you request official transcripts or scores be sent to LTU as well. | |
Financial Aid & Tuition The first step is to fill out the FAFSA form, which is found at www.fafsa.gov . Students beginning the Fall 2025 must complete the FAFSA for the 2025-26 aid year. Be sure to list LTU as your school of choice on the FAFSA. LTU's school code is 002279. After you register for classes, you will be emailed your Estimated Out of Pocket Charges to the email you completed your FAFSA with. Laptop Deposit and Distribution One of the highlights of being a new Lawrence Tech student is picking up your customized laptop. We want you to get used to the unique features and software prior to the start of the term. To be eligible to pick up your laptop, you will need to pay your $500 laptop deposit on your student status page after you've submitted your enrollment deposit. You MUST be fully registered for classes before you can pick up your laptop. In mid-May the laptop distribution schedule will be available to view on your student status page. Laptop distribution generally begins in mid-July. | |
Submit Final Transcripts Students still enrolled at another institution, please make sure you submit final transcripts upon completion of your final semester. Once received, we can review to see if any additional transfer credit can be accepted. | |
Financial Aid & Tuition Every year, eligible students can apply for financial aid after October 1. The first step is to fill out the FAFSA form, which is found at www.fafsa.gov . Enrollment Deposit All international students are required to submit a $500 non-refundable deposit to complete your application and finalize your admission documentation. Admitted international students can submit the enrollment deposit online through the Student Status Page at www.ltu.edu/statuspage . The international student enrollment deposit must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the start of the term to which you have been admitted. The confirmation of enrollment through the enrollment deposit and all required documentation to issue an I-20 must be submitted prior to the 60 day deadline. Canadian citizens are exempt from the international student enrollment deposit. | |
Obtaining your I-20 It is very important that you submit each document for obtaining your I-20. Document types can be found by clicking here . All admissions requirements must be completed and you must be admitted prior to an I-20 being issued. Once we have received all financial documents and the deposit, we will issue an I-20 via email along with your acceptance packet. | |

International Welcome Week To ease your transition into your new life at Lawrence Tech, the Office of International Programs requires that all international students attend a mandatory International Student Welcome Week Orientation one week prior to the start of courses. During International Welcome Week you will take any required testing, meet with an advisor, learn about required health insurance , and register for coursework. Students that do not attend International Welcome Week will miss the opportunity for advising and registration and may jeopardize their ability to enroll at Lawrence Tech. |
