Scholarships

All admitted students are automatically reviewed for a merit scholarship upon acceptance.  Merit scholarship amounts range from $4,500 to $16,000 per year, starting with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. May 1st is the merit scholarship deadline — make sure that you have submitted your application and all materials for admission before this point. Test scores are not required to receive scholarships for Fall 2026 students; those who are unable to submit standardized scores will not be disadvantaged in the merit scholarship process. However, if you have already taken or plan on taking the SAT or ACT and would like to submit test scores, your test scores will be considered for potential scholarship upgrades.

New students are eligible to receive up to two scholarships. Additional scholarship opportunities can be found in the table below (All Available Scholarships).

Students are only eligible for one merit-based scholarship. Merit-based freshman scholarships and other LTU scholarships are only offered to new incoming students in the fall semester.

The following types of students are not eligible to receive merit-based scholarships:

• students returning to LTU
• students who change entry terms
• students pursuing a second Bachelor’s degree.

Merit Scholarship Criteria

We automatically review any accepted student for a merit scholarship. Our scholarship review committee conducts a merit-based, holistic review for each accepted student. The committee looks at many factors including a student’s incoming GPA, the courses a student has taken in high school, and the rigor of those courses. Since we are test-optional for the Fall 2026 semester, ACT or SAT scores are not required to receive a scholarship, but may be submitted as supplemental information. Students must be admitted to LTU by March 1st to be reviewed for a merit scholarship.

Transfer students – once you have been admitted to Lawrence Tech, we’ll automatically review your transcripts for transfer credit and merit scholarships.

The following types of transfer students are not eligible to receive merit based scholarships:

• students returning to LTU
• students who change entry terms
• students who have earned a Bachelor or Master degree

If you applied and were accepted and received a merit scholarship as an undergraduate student into the Master of Architectural Engineering, Masters of Architecture or a Dual Degree in Civil Engineering & Architecture programs and have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 through your eighth semester, you may be eligible for a scholarship your 5th year to complete the graduate portion of these programs.

Merit Scholarship Criteria

Transfer students who attend part-time or at least 6 credit hours will still be eligible for a merit scholarship, the scholarship amount will be prorated. Based on your cumulative GPA and transfer credit counting toward your degree, we’ll look to see if you’re eligible for any of our merit-based scholarship awards based on the following eligibility requirements. May 1st is the merit scholarship deadline. 

Master’s-level students, like undergraduates, may qualify for scholarships; athletic or graduate assistants as well as doctoral and Ph.D. students do not qualify. Below you will find information on types of scholarships offered to graduate students. Graduate students may also contact their Graduate Program Director for other research, grant and scholarship opportunities. 

International Students

Admitted students are automatically reviewed for merit scholarship upon acceptance.

Scholarships are renewable for up to two years based on full-time enrollment of at least 9 credit hours and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

The Office of Financial Aid annually awards a number of endowed scholarships to selected students through the generosity of friends and alumni of the university.

The application window is October 1 through January 31. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000 per year. Eligible applicants must be full-time students with sophomore, junior, or senior standing within the year of the award. A FAFSA must be submitted prior to completing your independent donor application.
