If you have any questions about the financial aid available to you, trained and qualified financial aid advisors are available. These individuals can provide loan counseling and guidance on any other sources of available financial aid, and they are available before offering, recommending, arranging, signing-up, dispersing, or enrolling n Federal or independent student loan programs. » The Federal Tuition Assistance (ACES) Program

The ACES Program authorizes tuition assistance not to exceed 75 percent, (50 percent if you use the State Education Reimbursement Program) with a cap of $200 per semester hour and $4,000 for the fiscal year.

You may use Federal TA with the GI Bill provided you are enrolled at least half time (six semester hours).

Eligibility

  • You are a member in good standing in the Army National Guard
  • You are actively drilling with your unit
  • You are attending a course of instruction that is included in a vocational program, associate, baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree program offered by an accredited college, university, community college, technical college or trade school
  • You are maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or equivalent

Applying for the Program

  • See your unit representative for an application (DA Form 2171-E)
  • This is an up-front program and applications should be turned in before classes begin, but no later than the late registration period set by Lawrence Tech
  • Complete the forms and send to the Michigan Army National Guard Education Office
  • A separate application must be completed for each semester

Tuition Assistance

  • Once approved, DA Form 2171 is returned for you to take to the Lawrence Tech Office of Financial Aid
  • Lawrence Tech will bill DANTES in Pensacola, FL – the school is paid by Dantes
  • If your tuition is paid through loans, grants, etc., by the time Lawrence Tech receives payment from DANTES, Lawrence Tech will reimburse you or apply the funds to a future semester

» Express Scholarships

The Express Scholarship is designed to meet Air Force ROTC officer production requirements in specific fields and year groups. The list of approved fields and year groups varies from time to time and may change periodically without notice.

This program awards Type II (tuition capped at $15,000 per year plus $510 per year for books) scholarships.

The Express Scholarship program is operated on a noncompetitive basis – those who meet the qualifications are awarded the scholarships and do not meet a scholarship selection board. The processing of the scholarship award is completed at the local detachment.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for an Express Scholarship, the student must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Pass the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test
  • Pass the AFROTC Physical Fitness Test
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative college GPA
  • Not already be a contracted scholarship recipient (except those receiving GMCI)
  • Meet the age, moral, medical and other scholarship eligibility requirements for Air Force ROTC
  • Be majoring in one the fields listed below for your graduation year group

More About ROTC Scholarships

In addition to the Type II Scholarship, all Air Force ROTC Express (HSSP) scholarship recipients receive a nontaxable monthly stipend once they have contracted and activated their scholarship.

Upon activation, scholarship cadets are authorized a monthly stipend during the academic year. The amounts are based on the cadet’s academic status and are currently approximately $300 per month for AS 100 (freshmen), $350 per month for AS 200 (sophomores), $450 per month for AS 300 (juniors), and $500 per month for AS 400 (seniors). These stipends are paid in addition to any annual textbook allowance included with the scholarship.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
