Lawrence Tech offers a wide variety of opportunities for students looking to study abroad for a summer or a traditional fall or spring seemster. Study Abroad is a wonderful opportunity to explore a new country and a new culture. Many students take advantage of their extra time to also visit places outside of their host city or even host country.
Study abroad programs include opportunities in Germany, France, England, and Italy.
There is no better way to understand and appreciate the history, culture, and language of foreign society than to participate in an international experience opportunity.
There are hundreds of study, intern, research and volunteer abroad programs offered all over the world that are not affiliated with Lawrence Tech. This does not mean that you cannot participate, only that your financial aid may not be able to be applied and you may or may not receive LTU credit. Determining these factors will be on a case by case basis.

The individual programs have their own sets of requirements. Additionally, all Lawrence Tech students must adhere to the following:
Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Students in the College of Architecture and Design must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Have attended Lawrence Tech for at least 2 semesters or earned at least 24 credit hours at Lawrence Tech.
Have a passport that is current at least 6 months after the date of your planned return. To request a new passport or to renew a passport, visit the U.S. Department of State website. Passport requests should be done immediately to ensure on-time arrival.
Have financial support. Countries that require a Visa for entry will deny student Visas if you cannot demonstrate financial stability and support during your time abroad. The Study Abroad Office can assist in filling out Visa forms.
Be prepared to pay LTU tuition rates as per our exchange agreements with the different institutions. If you decide to participate in a program that we do not have an exchange agreement with, you will be responsible for payment due to that institution.
Be sure to verify with the Office of Financial Aid that your current aid package can be applied to your study abroad experience and to see if you qualify for additional scholarships or loans. All study abroad-related expenses-including airfare, housing abroad, passport fees, visas, etc-are education expenses that make students eligible for more aid. Eligibility for additional aid, however, does not guarantee additional aid.
Students must gain approval for courses from their advisor, department chair, and Guest Credit Committee . Advisors and department chairs must sign the student’s LTU Study Abroad Application which signifies their approval. The approval letter from the Guest Credit Committee must be submitted to the Study Abroad Office before courses will be created.
If you have any questions related to credits or graduation, contact the Registrar’s Office.
