In this talk, Han Zhang discusses how humans appear to effortlessly decide when and where to look, and how studying patterns of eye movements can shed light on cognition. The talk also explores how autonomous vehicles have a fundamentally different attentional architecture from humans, and how incorporating functional principles of human attention may lead to safer AVs. Along the way, it describes how research curiosity is transformed into tangible experiments that generate new knowledge.
