M215 Lab Policies and Procedures

Accessibility

  • Only currently registered students from the College of Management are allowed to use the lab facilities.
  • There is a combination lock on the door to the lab. The combination is provided to authorize users only and will be changed each semester. Your instructors will give you the new code at the start of each term.
  • The lab is open from 7:00am to midnight seven days a week during the school year, except holidays.

Workstation Rules

  • Workstations will be allocated based on student project priorities when the lab is full.
    • 1st priority – Oracle, C++, Java
    • 2nd priority – Microsoft Office
    • 3rd priority – Internet access, Email and other use
  • To avoid data loss resulted from workstation failure, we encourage you to save your work on your own external media. We are not responsible for any data loss or damage.
  • Do not attempt to install software, illegally copy software, open PC cases or disconnect cabling or power.
  • The hard drives are cleaned on a regular basis, to avoid the loss of your work, please save your projects to either a 3.5” floppy disk or a USB flash drive.
  • Workstations left unattended for more than 15 minutes will be considered vacant and other students are allowed to access the workstations.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the lab.
  • Please keep your voice down and be considerate of others.
  • Log off of workstation when your work is complete.

Network Printer

  • Beginning from Fall 2004, students have unique logins. We will credit your printing accounts according to the number of management classes you are taking each semester. You will get the credit of 150 printing pages per management class (i.e. if you are taking 2 management classes, you will get 300 pages). If additional printing is needed, you need to purchase a print card from the campus bookstore ($5.00/100 pages). Present the print card to the lab assistant on duty, s/he will credit your account accordingly.
  • In your class your professor will ask you to fill in your information on a sheet: your Banner ID, first name, last name and number of management classes you are taking this semester. We need this information to set up your printing accounts. Please make sure that you submit your information only once in order to avoid redundancy.
  • If paper or toner is running out, please contact the lab staff. If a lab staff person is unavailable, please go to M331, the College of Management Office.
  • Maintenance
  • Please respect the school property by keeping the lab furniture, equipment and supplies in the proper order.
  • Please use the big box under the printer for any white waste paper.
  • All missing items are kept in the Lost and Found area.
  • For emergency situations such as: the power is out, the server is down, the printer is out of toner, etc., please contact the lab staff or email wp_bo@ltu.edu.
  • Lab staff and LTU faculty/staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items from a workstation.
  • Lab privileges will be revoked for non-compliance with this policy statement.

Please remember you share responsibilities for keeping the lab in good order. You are welcome to bring any suggestions or concerns to the attention of the lab team.

We appreciate your efforts in helping us build a better learning environment.
