Degree Steps
1. Course work
- Complete 36 credit hours of course work
- Complete 24 hours of dissertation research
2. Comprehensive Examinations
- Complete Qualifying Paper Proposal & Exam upon completion of all course work
3. Dissertation
- Convene the dissertation committee
- Register for the first dissertation course (DIS 8113)
- Submit and present your research proposal to the dissertation committee
- Register for subsequent dissertation credit hours (DIS8123-DIS8183)
- Perform research and write dissertation
- Defend dissertation
- Apply for graduation

Courses

The Core Courses (24 credit hours)
The eight core courses cover the major fields of business. The course work broadens and deepens the student's awareness and understanding of the economic, financial, competitive, political, ethical and social issues confronting today's organizations. Students acquire the analytical tools, leadership skills and practical knowledge needed to address these issues successfully in a fast-paced, global environment. Students learn how to lead the transformation of their organizations to meet the challenges of the 21st Century through course work in leadership, organization development and change, global marketing, and organizational behavior.

The Research Methodologies Courses (12 credit hours)
The research methodologies courses cover the Quantitative and qualitative design, methods, techniques, notations, and computer-based tools needed to conduct critical inquiry, undertake defensible research, and to test the validity and reliability of research findings. The course work also covers the requirements for completing the doctoral proposal and dissertation. It provides students with the statistical and analytical tools needed to conduct the independent, scholarly research that underlies the dissertation.
