Teams of students will be given $10 of start-up capital for a venture of their choosing.  This will be used to develop an original idea about how you can have a lasting impact on your community with very little resources.  Judging will be conducted by a panel of non-profit leaders in Southeast Michigan, and will be judged on the following criteria:

 1. Long-term social impact on the community
 2. Identification of need/relevance of issue
 3. Creativity and Innovation
 4. Quality of final presentation 

Rules

1. Participants must be undergraduate Lawrence Tech students
2. Teams will consist of 3-4 students
3. There will be no more than 10 teams in the competition
4. Students will come up with an original idea about how to impact their communities
5. Teams will identify a team advisor to oversee the project
6. The majority of team members must be present for the Idea Pitch and Awards and Showcase events

What You Will Gain

1. Recognize needs in the community around them and take action to address those needs in leadership roles
2. Understand the concept of startup capital and identifying non-monetary resources to reach startup goals
3. Use creativity, innovation, and problem solving 
4. Learn to write and deliver an elevator pitch, and will have the opportunity to practice your communication skills throughout the process
