Leadership Abroad

"Differences challenge assumptions."

--Annie Wilson Schaef

Why not take your interest in leadership development overseas? Lawrence Tech students who want an enriching experience for a semester or a year should take advantage of international learning and leadership opportunities. Experiencing an international exchange can broaden your outlook on the future and provide a breadth and depth to your degree and overall career potential. We have a variety of experiences that Lawrence Tech students have taken advantage of while pursuing their degree and new opportunities our faculty believe will add value to your overall Lawrence Tech experience

How Do I get started?

1) Review the Leadership Abroad experiences that Lawrence Tech offers to find the type that you're most interested in. Some options include study abroad, volunteer overseas, and international experiences. If you find a program on your own that interests you, feel free to pursue that one as well. However, you may want to contact The Office of Leadership Programs to get some guidance for self-selected programs.
No matter what you choose, it's a good idea to begin looking at the different opportunities at least a year in advance.

2) Identify the ones that interest you and contact the Lawrence Tech Representative to gain more information and get your questions answered.
3) Call, email or go to the website that is listed for the study abroad experience you are interested in and register.
4) Remember to discuss this opportunity with your advisor and professors to seek advice on your choice.
5) Consider your financial aid and funding options. Many scholarships and financial aid packages will fund, at least in part, learning experiences that take place overseas.

Is Financial Aid Available?

There are some funding opportunities available to students who want to participate in learning and leadership opportunities overseas. Make an appointment with your financial aid advisor to talk about the specific requirements of your current financial aid and to research additional sources of funding.
