Owner and CEO of Dynamic Captioning in Grand Rapids. Dynamic Captioning provides captioning services for the hearing impaired. The company's Media RT product uses real-time technology offline, so that programs appear captioned as if they were real-time. The company received MEGA's High-Tech Tax Credit, with plans to invest over $550,000 and create 40 new jobs. Dynamic Captioning recently acquired XOrbit, a captioning technology and engineering solutions company, and expanded into a larger facility in Grand Rapids. It also has an office in New York. The firm plans to expand into captioning services for full-length motion pictures, music videos, and translation services for television commercials and industrial training videos. Dynamic Captioning has been named one of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch. A board-certified general and trauma surgeon, LaBine has worked at Priority Health and St. Mary's Health Care. He is the founder of Holding Hands With Haiti, a nonprofit mission, and is a founding board member of Project Access for low-income patients without health insurance. He is a director of the African-American Health Institute and an associate clinical instructor at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine. Previously, he served on the boards of the Kent County Medical Society and as a delegate for the Michigan State Medical Society. LaBine is a member of the American College of Physician Executives, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, and the Michigan State Medical Society. A retired major in the U.S. Army Reserves, he received his bachelor's degree in zoology from North Dakota State University and his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.
