Founder, CEO, and Chairman of MachineTools.com in West Bloomfield. An e-commerce pioneer, Carlin created the concept for his site in 1998 and launched it in 1999. MachineTools.com now has 350,000 visitors every month from more than 80 countries, viewing more than five million pages. The website typically has 35,000 machines for sale and 100,000 registered users in metalworking. MachineTools.com is also viewable in Chinese and Spanish. Company employees are located in five states and in Mexico, India, and China. Carlin has more than 15 years of management and entrepreneurial experience. Prior to founding MachineTools.com, he was responsible for two ventures: OTG Machinery, a used machinery brokerage, and Xchange, a direct marketing company serving the machine tool market place. Carlin received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Illinois-Champagne/Urbana, and was licensed and started his career as a CPA.
