* Scholarship Competition winners will earn up to $4,000 per year for four years toward your education at Lawrence Tech. The scholarships earned are in addition to any academic scholarship for which you may qualify, total awards not to exceed full tuition. This competition is open to any accepted senior that is from a state other than Michigan.

How to Participate in Lawrence Tech’s Scholarship Competition:
1. Be an accepted freshman for the Fall 2013 semester. If you haven't applied to LTU do so here: www.ltu.edu/futurestudents/apply.asp.

2. Write a 300-500 word response to the following topic and email your essay to outofstate@ltu.edu by Friday, February 1, 2013. The subject of this email should be "Out of State Scholarship Competition Essay - Your First Name Your Last Name". Example: Out of State Scholarship Competition Essay  - Jane Doe

Lawrence Tech believes that critical and innovative thinking, leading by example, and serving one’s community are some of the essential qualities of an effective leader. What quality do you think is most important for a leader to have and why? How have you demonstrated this attribute?

 *This essay is additional to the required personal essay for admission.

The writers of the best essays will be invited to attend the Scholarship Competition for Out-of-State Students on Friday, March 8th, 2013, including an overnight stay on campus. Decisions on essays submitted will be within one week of submission via email.

Scholarship winners will be reimbursed up to $500, paid toward their second semester tuition at Lawrence Tech, for travel expenses, such as flights/transportation, with submission of receipts.
