Dr. Badih Ali JawadDirector, Master of

Professor Badih A. Jawad is the chairman of the A. Leon Linton Department of Mechanical Engineering.
He joined Lawrence Tech in 1996 and was promoted to full professor in 2006. His areas of expertise are thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and internal combustion engines.
Jawad has been part of many initiatives involving faculty, staff, students and the College of Engineering. He served as the faculty advisor to the Formula SAE team and the "supermileage car" project. He is also the director of the master of science degree program in mechanical engineering (MSME) program.
He has served as director of the University Assessment Program, the College of Engineering representative on the Graduate Council and as a co-chair for the Faculty and Staff Campaign several times.
He has a B.S. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and an M.S. and a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering all from Wayne State University. Previously, he taught at several local universities and also worked as a Research and Product Development Engineer for Chrysler Corporation.
Dr. Jawad is a member of several engineering and professional societies, and has participated and attended many conferences in which he published numerous technical papers with his students. He also chaired and reviewed papers for various conferences, and has reviewed books for several national publishers.
