Anti-Virus Protection - Symantec Endpoint Protection
Campus Use
All University laptops and desktops have Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) anti-virus software installed. SEP runs anti-virus scans and updates virus definitions on each system automatically. Users with Lawrence Tech laptops or desktops do not need to do anything to configure or manage SEP software.
To install SEP on a University laptop or desktop, use Internet Explorer to open this web page: http://defiant.ltu.edu/ . Read the instructions and click the "Download for Campus Users" link near the bottom of the page.
Home and Personal Use
SEP is also available to Lawrence Tech faculty and staff for their personal Windows and Vista computers. The at home version allows the end user to fully manage SEP.
- Internet Explorer users should download SEP from http://defiant.ltu.edu. Read the instructions and click the "Download for Home Users" link at the bottom of the page.
- If you use Firefox at home, download SEP by cutting and pasting this URL into the Location Bar: http://defiant.ltu.edu/SEP_Home.exe . Save the file. Then open Downloads (in the Tools Menu) and click the file to start the installation.
- SEP will run on Windows XP, Vista 32 bit, and Vista 64 bit systems.
- SEP is not supported for Mac systems.
If you have other questions about SEP, please contact the Lawrence Tech Computer Help Desk by phone at 248.204.2330 or by email at helpdesk@ltu.edu.
