Create Assignments

Assignments provide you with:

  • Automatic Grade Center Column: creating an Assignment will automatically create a new column in the Grade Center
  • Ability to download student submissions easily: students upload their work within the assignment folder; each submission is listed. Blackboard will automatically insert each student’s username andassignment name in the files when they are uploaded.

Log on to Blackboard and access your course (make sure that “Edit Mode” is “On”)

  1. Select Assignments from Menu tab to open the Assignments pane
  2. Select (click) Create Assessment to view drop-down options (not Build Content)
  3. Select Assignment to open the Create Assignment page
    • Create Assignment Information: Type a Name  for the assignment (required) and type in any instructions for the students (optional)
    • Assignment Files (optional): To attach a file, select “Browse My Computer” to locate and add
    • Grading (Points Possible): Type in the grade points if this assignment is to be graded
    • Associated Rubrics: The option to add a rubric is now an option. You can select a rubric, create a new rubriic, or create from an existing rubric (NEW)
    • Availability
      Make Assignment Available: Select checkbox
      Number of Attempts: Select Allow single attempt: Allow unlimited attempts; or Number of Attempts (see printable instructions for detailed explanation)
      Limit Availability:  Display After / Until dates/times
      Track Number of Views: select checkbox to track / reports usage, viewing, and student access of assignment
    • Due Dates
      Will you accept late submissions? If yes, enter date / time (marked late); if not leave blank
    • Recipients
      Each student individually (default); Groups of students (selective)

4.  Click Submit
