Departmental Objectives
Lawrence Tech’s undergraduate Natural Sciences programs are intended to produce scientists who:
- Have sound command of the fundamental concepts in their field
- Have the experience and training to apply those concepts in industry.
- Have the ability to teach themselves new skills as needed.
- Possess the problem-solving and critical judgment skills required of competent citizens in an increasingly technological society.
- Are able to undertake productive assignments in industry.
- Are prepared to undertake graduate study in their field or in related disciplines.
- Are well prepared for admission and success in medicine, dentistry or related fields.
- Are fully prepared for graduate work in business or law.
- Understand and adhere to the ethical standards of their discipline and of society as a whole.
Lawrence Tech’s Master’s program in Science Education is intended to produce teachers who:
- Have sound command of the fundamental concepts they are required to teach,
- Have the experience and training to apply those concepts in a hands-on, constructivist fashion.
- Are able to translate their Lawrence Tech experience directly into the classroom.
- Will become leaders in their own schools and districts in science education.
- Are able to foster a love and respect for science in their own students and to give those students confidence in their ability to pursue science on their careers.
- Understand and adhere to the ethical standards of their discipline and of society as a whole.
Lawrence Tech's Master's program in Educational Technology is intended to produce professionals who:
- Use computer skills to enhance the teaching process in the classroom or place of work.
- Apply emerging electronic technologies to the creation of educational media
- Participate intelligently in the decision-making process when educational technology applications are being considered.
- Train others in the design of electronic documents, web pages, and the use of multimedia.
