Undergraduate Certificate in Building Information Modeling and Computer Visualization

Although relatively new technologies, building information modeling and computer visualization are playing an increasingly important role in architecture, specifically building design, construction, and operation. With the help of cutting-edge computer software, building information modeling and computer visualization use 3D modeling techniques that integrate a building’s components – properties, location, geometry, spatial relationships, etc. The ability to “visualize” the project not only increases productivity in the overall building process, but also improves communication between architects, engineers, contractors, and other key team members, making the project more efficient and economical.

Program Summary

The Building Information Modeling and Computer Visualization Certificate is a 12 credit hour online program available to students concurrently enrolled at Lawrence Tech or individuals who are either in practice or have an interest in increasing their ability to use computer applications to visualize architecture as well as apply Building Information Modeling (BIM) in architectural work.  The BIM+CV Certificate is available fully online to accommodate all schedules and includes both labs and lectures.  Software used in this program includes AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D Studio Max.
