The Art and Design Department has active student organizations.

ASID: The American Society for Interior Designers gives the Interior Architecture student the opportunity to connect with peers & professionals in the Interior Architecture profession, promoting skills for the future as an Interior Designer—Various events include:

  • Exclusive trip to the nations biggest furniture show—NeoCon held in Chicago in June
  • Tours of Interior Architecture firms including Knoll furniture showrooms & designer homes
  • ASID Student Career Day held at the Michigan Design Center—Troy, MI
  • Winter Celebration—Welcome back party--top student work from Fall semester
  • Participation in national design competitions
  • Gift certificates and 20% discounts to Millers Art supply
  • Invitation to ASID professional meetings
  • Monthly meetings

IES: Illuminating Engineering Society is designed give the students the opportunity to network with professionals in Lighting Design and Lighting Engineering, & to enhance and improve the practice of lighting—Membership includes:

  • Cooper Lighting’s lighting design workshops
  • National and regional lighting events incl. "New Lamp Technology" lecture in November
  • "IIDA" Awards presentation in February
  • Hosted Cont Ed "Home and Garden Lighting" and an "IES ED 100" course in May
  • Subscription to Lighting Design Application magazine
  • Invitations to monthly IES Michigan meetings

Tau Sigma Delta: The Honor Society for Architecture and the Allied Discipline
Tau Signa Delta is the only nationally recognized honor society in the field of architecture, landscape architecture & the allied arts. Membership includes:
