Don't take our word for it!  Students in the Fall 2008 Pre-courses speak for themselves:

Students in a recent  Calculus 1 pre-course said they'd recommend the pre-course to friends.  Some of their reasons were "It well-prepared me for the upcoming school year", that it was a "great review and helps you get a step ahead", that "it prepared me very well for the central course, now I have at least a base knowledge", it was a "good review", and that "it was a good refresher for the stuff I forgot."

Students in a recent English Fundamentals/Composition pre-course said they would take another pre-course in the future.  Some comments why were "Because the ones I took this semester really helped me ease into the main classes, as well as reviewing past and introducing new material" and "because even if I took the class it will refresh my mind and I will know more of what is coming in the next class."

In the last Structures I pre-course, students described the pre-course as "...extremely helpful and [it] get[s] you ready for the course in a short amount of time."  They would take another pre-course because "It is calming to have a sense of preparation - refreshed awareness. Should speed the [future] coursework".  Others described the pre-course as being "very informative and helpful", that "it helped me get ready", and that "it gives me an idea of what to expect."

Students in the Fall 2007 pre-courses were also excited about their experience.

According to Jeremy Woyak, he took the pre-course to catch up on high school trig. “Actually, it did more than what I expected –I learned new stuff I had never learned before.”

Jonathan Banks, who took the pre-course for Mechanics of Materials, was impressed. "I would most definitely take another pre-course...It really helps refresh your memory of what it is you learned and [gives] a heads up of what is to come.”
